Ever wondered how long a typical personal injury case in West Palm Beach,
Florida takes from the beginning of a claim to settlement? We crafted
this simple inforgraphic to lay it all out for you.
Some background information on this timeline:
- 90% or more of all typical personal injury cases will be settled without
having to file a lawsuit or appear in court.
- Then average pre-suit case (a case that is settled before a lawsuit is
filed) will take between 9 months and 2 years from the time our firm is
hired to handle your case to when settlement checks are disbursed.
- This timeline only applies to cases that settle, not for cases in which
a lawsuit is filed with the Court.
The pre-suit phase (3 months to 1 year) involves the client hiring The Law Offices of Craig
Goldenfarb to handle your case.
The demand phase (2 to 4 months) is when we make our demands for settlement to the Defendant party.
That starts the
negotiation phase, which takes an average of 4 months to complete.
Finally, the last stage is the settlement/closing stage, in which the client
receives a settlement check and the matter or case is resolved. This last
stage takes an average of 1 to 4 months to resolve.
A little know fact: during the settlement/closing stage,
your case manager will be busy negotiating your medical liens or bills lower, so that you
can take home the biggest piece of the settlement proceeds possible!
