18-Wheeler Accidents
Destructive and often fatal truck accidents occur when large, 18-wheel trucks collide with passenger vehicles. More than half a million trucking accident occur every year in America, and for those lucky enough to survive this type of crash, the injuries sustained are often very severe. If you have been injured in a semi-trailer accident, contact a qualified attorney today.
Tragic outcomes
There are a number of reasons why 18-wheeler collisions are so tragic. One is the pressure to meet unrealistic deadlines. When truck drivers are under such tight schedules, they often drive at excessive speeds. An 80,000 pound truck that is going even five miles over the posted speed limit will have a more difficult time stopping and turning bends safely.
Also, drivers of 18-wheel trucks are required to work long hours with little sleep. Consequently, truck driver fatigue plays a large role in devastating accidents.
Some common causes of 18-wheeler accidents include:
- Brake failure
- Failure to see and accommodate blind spots
- Road debris
- Excessive speed
- Failure to follow the rules of the road and/or unsafe driving practices
- Use of illegal or legal stimulants to stay awake
- Tire separation or failure
- Unsecured freight or overloaded cargo

Construction Accidents
One of the most dangerous careers in America is construction. Each year, hundreds of thousands of workers are injured, even killed, in construction site accidents.
If you or family member has been hurt in a construction accident, consult a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible to discuss your options.
The construction company's responsibility
It is the construction company's responsibility to meticulously examine each construction site with safety engineers. The company needs to provide safety programs and functional, appropriate safety gear for workers. When these measures are not taken, the person, company, or third-party responsible for your injury should be held liable. Workers' Compensation law prevents you from filing a lawsuit against your employer, but others involved in your accident may be liable. This can include the:
Owners
Insurance companies
Architects
Site managers
Equipment manufacturers
Subcontractor
General contractor
Around 40 percent of all construction-site fatalities involve electrocution. Other accidents that can occur on a construction site include:
- Crane accidents
- Gas and mechanical hazards
- Slip and fall injuries
- Scaffolding accidents
- Dangerous and defective machines
- Logging accidents
- Welding and cutting accidents
- Brazing Accidents
Injuries can range from broken bones and lacerations to traumatic brain injuries and neck and spinal cord injuries.
Workers' compensation provides benefits to workers who are injured on the job or who have suffered a work-related illness. These benefits include payments based on the employee's wages, plus total or partial disability.
If you have been hurt in a construction accident in West Palm Beach, Florida or the surrounding area, please contact the law firm of Florida accident attorney Craig Goldenfarb, P.A. a free case evaluation.

Tractor-Trailer Accidents
When a 75,000-plus-pound tractor-trailer rig collides with an average passenger car or truck, you can guess who comes out on the losing end.
But when it comes to making sure you are fairly represented after the accident, there are some steps you can take to make sure you’re as protected as possible.
Remember, a trucking company has many resources working for them, not for you. Risk management departments and investigators will be feverishly working with the company’s insurance agency—and usually not with your best interest in mind.
Tips for Dealing with Insurance
Start with these tips for dealing with insurance companies.
• If at all possible, call an experienced attorney who specializes in tractor-trailer accidents to join you at the scene of the accident. A complete investigation can be implemented right away.
• Also as soon as possible, contact your automobile insurance agent.
• Be aware of your insurance policy; you’ll want to be well-informed.
• Take detailed notes when you speak with insurance representatives. Write down names, titles and phone numbers.
• Don’t give written or recorded statements or sign any waivers, and don’t let an insurance company record your phone conversation without your attorney present.
If you live in the West Palm Beach area in Florida, you can make sure you’re protected on all fronts by contacting the law offices of Craig Goldenfarb at 1-800-GOLD-LAW.

Automobile Accident? You May Need an Attorney
Most people will be involved in an auto accident in their lifetime. If you have been in a car accident, you may be entitled to receive compensation, even if you were partly at fault. The laws governing car accidents differ from state to state, so seeking advice from an attorney is imperative.
After you are involved in a vehicle accident, an insurance adjustor representing the other driver or drivers involved will most likely contact you seeking to get a statement from you over the phone. They may even make you an immediate offer in an effort to settle the case. What you must remember, however, is that you are in no way obligated to speak to any insurance adjustors. If you are not represented by counsel, simply refuse to speak with them, and if you are, refer them to your attorney.
Insurance companies will do everything in their power to deny you the compensation you deserve. If they do make you an initial offer, it is most likely much, much less than you are entitled to receive. Insurance companies are businesses seeking to make a profit. The quicker they get rid of your case, the less money it costs them. Any offer they may make is in an effort to pay out as little money as possible to you.
Obtaining an attorney after you are involved in a car accident is very important. The laws governing car accidents can be difficult to interpret, and dealing with the insurance companies can be even more frustrating. The quicker you talk to an attorney, the quicker your case can be resolved in a fair, just manner.
If you have been injured in an automobile accident in Florida, the West Palm Beach car accident attorneys at the Law Offices of Craig Goldenfarb, P.A. can help. Please contact our office today.

Heart Attacks in Public Places
It is estimated that anywhere from 200,000 to 500,000 Americans suffer a cardiac arrest each year. If left untreated for more than five minutes, brain injury may occur, so immediate response is of the utmost importance when someone suffers a cardiac arrest.
Because time is of the essence following a cardiac event, devices called “Automated external defibrillators” (AED) are now available in many public places where heart attacks are known to happen such as theme parks, sports venues, shopping malls, and golf courses. AEDs are places where older people tend to gather; these devices can be used by lay people. They are usually brightly colored and very easy to locate. Ideally, someone using one should have received training, but this is usually not the case. Typically, when these protective cases are opened and the defibrillator is removed, a buzzer will sound, which alerts staff that an AED is in use; trained emergency medical personnel can then be summoned, and chances for saving a life are greatly increased has the AED not been available.
It is estimated that as many as 50,000 lives can be saved each year by having AEDs available in many public places.
If you live in the West Palm Beach area and would like to learn more about AEDs and heart attacks in public places, please contact The Law Offices of Craig Goldenfarb, P.A. today to schedule your confidential consultation.

18-Wheeler Accidents
If you’re like most people, odds are you’ve had one of those encounters with an 18-wheeler or tractor-trailer rig that makes your heart pound and your hands grip the wheel a little more tightly than before.
Perhaps it’s because the driver of the semi-truck doesn’t see you and changes lanes right on top of you. Or a driver takes a curve too fast and you watch as the trailer tips to the side in front of you. And of course, truck-driver fatigue from being behind the wheel for too many hours or defective equipment can be deadly factors, too.
The fact is these accidents happen—a lot. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that close to 81,000 fatal and non-fatal injuries are reported every year from tractor-trailer crashes. And these 18-wheeler accidents sadly resulted in nearly 5,000 deaths last year.
The good news is, if you’ve been injured in an accident involving an 18-wheeler, there may be legal help available. But you need to quickly consult with a lawyer specializing in these types of accidents. Due to legal restraints, time is of the essence.
If you live in the West Palm Beach, Florida area and would like more information on 18-wheeler accidents, please call the law offices of Palm Beach County attorney Craig Goldenfarb at 1-800-GOLD-LAW.
