It Is Tire Safety Week. Are Your Tires Safe?

June 5-11 is National Tire Safety Week.  In the five years from 2005 to 2009, nearly 3,400 people died in tire-related accidents.  An estimated 116,000 were injured.  Are you at risk for a tire-related accident? To kick off National Tire Safety Week, the U.S. Department of transportation has issued a consumer advisory urging all drivers to check their tires.
 
Florida tire blowout accidents increase in hot weather when high temperatures put stress on rubber tires.  Heat stress combined with increased travel as families go on vacation increases the risk of tire failure.  There is an even greater risk of a Florida tire blowout accident if the tire is not properly inflated.
