The Worst Nursing Homes in Palm Beach County

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration ranks nursing homes in our state. The ratings are based on the following criteria:

 

1. Quality of care: This measures the general health of residents and general conditions in the nursing home. There is a specific focus on nutrition, hydration and bed sores or pressure ulcers. 
2. Quality of life: This includes the improper use of physical and/or chemical restraints, dignity of treatment, how well resident needs are met and more. There is a focus on signs of decline.
3. Administration: This area covers record-keeping, development of resident care programs and an assessment of a facility's physical structure.

 

The rankings go from 1 (the worst) to 5 (the best). Nursing homes are rated based upon the severity of deficiencies and how many residents are affected. Facilities are compared to others in the same geographic region.
