What are the insurance requirements in Florida?

A: In Florida, all drivers must show proof of insurance in order to register their car and receive a Florida license plate.

The minimum requirements are:

  • $10,000 personal injury protection (PIP)
  • $10,000 property damage liability (PDL)

By law, you must maintain this coverage as long as you are driving a car with a Florida license plate.  However, one out every four Florida drivers is uninsured.  In order to protect yourself in the event of an West Palm Beach accident involving an uninsured driver, you should have additional insurance coverage.

Craig Goldenfarb, a motor vehicle accident attorney in West Palm Beach, wrote an informative brochure that is available free of charge to all Florida drivers.  Click the link on the sidebar to request your free copy of "What Types of Car Insurance Do I Need?".
