My child was with me in a West Palm Beach car accident. What do I need to do differently?

A: Your child’s safety and health is your highest priority. If you and your child are involved in a West Palm Beach car crash, call the police and let them know immediately that your child was in the car with you during the accident and that you would like an emergency medical technician (EMT) to come to the scene and evaluate your child for injuries. Do not remove your child from their car seat.
 
EMT’s are trained to work with adults and may not recognize child injury. Children can often seem fine when they are seriously hurt, so you will also want to have your child evaluated in an emergency room to rule out serious internal injuries and you will want to follow up with your pediatrician.
