A: The right time to get a lawyer after your car accident case is right away!  That's the time when you get a bunch of phone calls and have lots of forms to fill out.  One of the best things we can do as lawyers is help you deal with all the forms, all the phone calls and tell you which calls you should return and which you should not return.

One of the first tricks an insurance adjuster always uses is to tell you, "I can get you paid, but I am going to need to get your recorded statement."  The day after the accident, you might not be feeling pain in your back or neck; it might not start for a couple of days.  But if you have recorded a statement saying your back doesn't hurt, and then it starts to hurt a couple of days later, your case may have been damaged by your recorded statement.  Remember, anything you say can be used against you.  That's why you shouldn't give any recorded statements to anybody right after a car accident, and that's why you really need a lawyer.
