Man Hit in Palm Springs Pedestrian Accident Dies from Injuries

Posted on Oct 27, 2011

An 81-year-old Palm Springs pedestrian accident victim has died from his injuries. He was hit by a police cruiser almost three months ago.

At 1:53 p.m. on July 31, Frank Muxella of Palm Springs was riding his motorized chair on a sidewalk on the west side of the 1400 block of South Congress Avenue. Village police officer Nathan Allen, Jr. was watching southbound traffic and operating radar from an empty lot. The officer noticed a potential traffic violation and left the lot. He turned on his lights and sirens and drove towards Congress Avenue. As Allen crossed the sidewalk to reach the street, he hit Muxella with his patrol car. Muxella was critically injured.

Muxella had been in hospice care since his injury in the accident. He died twelve weeks after the injury on Thursday, October 20 at 7:15 a.m.

The Palm Beach County sheriff's office is investigating the accident, but Palm Springs police officer Allen remains on duty.

West Palm Beach pedestrian accident attorney Bill Clanton and his staff would like to extend our condolences to Mr. Muxella's family.
