• American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (ABPLA): This organization is accredited by the American Bar Association and certifies attorneys in the malpractice areas of medicine, law and accounting.
• Joint Commission International Center for Patient Safety: This was established in 2005 under the auspices of the world Health Organization. It works to focus worldwide attention on patient safety.
• National Patient Safety Foundation: This is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1997 to help improve patient safety.

Nursing Home Neglect & Abuse

• Florida DOH: The Florida Department of Health provides detailed documentation regarding nursing home statutes and rules.
• Florida’s Nursing Home Guide: This guide lists nursing homes by region and county and includes facility-specific information and inspection rankings.
• Nursing Home Compare: The Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services created this site to provide additional information used to compare nursing homes in Florida and nationwide.

General

• Bullying in schools:

  Bullying is rampant at middle and high schools in Palm Beach County, Florida, according to the Palm Beach Post Editorial Board in an editorial by Jac Wilder VerSteeg.  VerSteeg is calling for Jaega Middle School to set an example for other schools and, rather than accept its role as just another school where bullying happens, Jaega should become the leader in stopping it, so students like Joshua Poole can go to school without fear of being beaten by other students.  Joshua and his parents told their lawyer, Craig Goldenfarb, that Joshua fears school and suffers headaches and blurred vision as a result of his recent beating. 
  
  Joshua Poole is a 13-year-old middle school student at Jeaga Middle School in West Palm Beach.  On October 27, 2010, he was hit about five or six times in the head by a fellow student in his math class, while the teacher did nothing.  A fellow student took a video of the incident and posted it on YouTube.  You can see the complete video at www.PalmBeachPost.com/video.
