FOR IMMDIATE RELEASE – 7/7/2014 West Palm Beach, Florida – Craig Goldenfarb with the Law Offices of Craig Goldenfarb, P.A. and the
victim of a
hit and run accident, Michael Russo, will host a press conference today at 2:00 pm at our West
Palm Beach office, 2090 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. Suite 402, West Palm Beach,
Our firm needs the help of the public in identifying the driver of a white
2006-2008 BMW 3-series with a possibly Connecticut or Kentucky registration
tag. A passenger side mirror housing was recovered at the crash scene,
which has been used by our investigators to identify the make, model,
and year of the phantom vehicle.
Witnesses described the unknown driver as being 20-25 years old, with dark
hair and sunglasses. The man sped off after the collision, never stopping
to attend to Mr. Russo. The driver swerved around a second witness who
attempted to stand in the path of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it.
The accident occurred in the early evening of March 20th, 2014 while Mr.
Russo rode his bicycle on the shoulder near 610 N Ocean Blvd in Delray
Beach. Despite the investigating officer's best efforts, the Department
has been unable to locate the driver. Mr. Russo has suffered multiple
injuries to his back.
"This accident has a John Goodman-feel to it. This driver knew he
struck Mr. Russo and decided to flee anyway. It may be because he was
nervous or afraid that he hurt the man, or maybe because he simply thinks
he can get away with this crime. We are here to send a message today that
we as a public are not going to allow that to happen. Let's find this
man, and hold him accountable for his actions", Mr. Goldenfarb said.
Fleeing the scene of an accident which involves injuries is a third-degree
felony in the State of Florida, and is unfortunately common in Palm Beach
County. In June, a woman was struck and killed by a hit and run driver
while improperly crossing West Palm Beach's Okeechobee Road. Just
this past Saturday, a woman was walking in Boynton Beach when she was
struck by a then-unknown driver, leaving her in critical condition. The
offending driver was identified in the time following.
We are asking anyone who knows of a white 2006-2008 BMW 3-series (325i,
328i, or 335i) with possible Connecticut or Kentucky tags that has had
the passenger side mirror replaced since March 20th, 2014, and possibly
additional damage to the passenger side replaced or fixed, to come forward
to help identify this hit and run driver. Possible sources of information might include neighbors, work colleagues,
or auto body repair shop owners and technicians.
Please call (561) 697-4440 if you have any information that might lead
to the identification of this driver.
Mr. Goldenfarb and Mr. Russo will be available for questions and comments
from the media at 2:00 pm during the conference.
